Flu Vaccinations and Clinics

The format of our flu clinics has had to change this year – to ensure social distancing guidelines can be followed. We are running major flu clinics on Saturdays – rather than during the week.

Things to note:

  • How to book a flu appointment: flu appointments can only be booked by telephone; 01372 455450
  • Masks: must be worn at all times
  • Appointment times: flu appointments are at specific times –please make sure you come to the practice at the right time
  • Saturday clinics – car park: the car park will not be available – to allow for queueing – please park elsewhere

For People who are 18-64 Years with Certain Medical Conditions

We are waiting to receive additional flu vaccines for this age group. They are likely to be with us in mid-November.

For People who are 65 Years and Above

  • Saturday 7th November – 11:05 – 11:30
  • Monday 9th November – 11:00 – 12:00
  • Tuesday 10th November – 12:00 – 13:00
  • Wednesday 11th November – 09:30 – 10:30
  • Thursday 12th November – 11:30 – 12:30
  • Saturday 14th November – 10:30 – 11:00
  • Tuesday 17th November – 12:00 – 13:00

The injected flu vaccine is offered free of charge on the NHS to people who are at risk. This is to ensure they are protected against catching flu and developing serious complications.

Flu vaccination appointments currently available are for people who:

  • are 65 years of age or over
  • are pregnant
  • are 18 to 64 years and have certain medical conditions
  • are living in a long-stay residential care home or other long-stay care facility
  • receive a carer’s allowance, or you are the main carer for an elderly or disabled person whose welfare may be at risk if you fall ill
  • live with somebody who is immunocompromised or who is on the NHS Shielded Patient List (please check if unsure)
  • are health and social care staff who are directly involved in the care of vulnerable patients / clients who are at increased risk from exposure to flu – those working in or through:
    • registered care /nursing home or registered domiciliary care providers
    • hospice providers
    • direct payments / personal health budgets

Flu vaccine appointments for 50 to 64 year olds who do not meet the above criteria are not yet available. Further information on flu vaccination appointments for people in this age group will be available as soon as possible.

For children, we run separate flu clinics with the flu vaccine being free on the NHS for:

  • children over the age of 6 months with a long-term health condition
  • children aged 2 and 3 on 31 August 2020 (born between 01 September 2016 and 31 August 2018)
  • children in school up to the age of 11 years (these will be available in their schools)

For Children Under 18 Years Old with Certain Medical Conditions or 2 and 3 Years Old

We run separate flu clinics – with the flu vaccine being free on the NHS for:

  • children over the age of 6 months with a long-term health condition
  • children aged 2 and 3 on 31 August 2020 (born between 01 September 2016 and 31 August 2018)
  • children in school up to the age of 11 years (these will be available in their schools)

  • Monday 9th November – 15:20 – 16:20
  • Thursday 12th November – 16:10 – 17:00
  • Wednesday 18th November – 16:10 – 17:00
